Our platform aggregates multi-system data to streamline workflow associated with the early identification and advising of at-risk students, and provides intervention, remediation, and collaboration tools to help keep students on path from help guide students on the path from admittance to graduation.

Job Description

As a part of the Development team, the Ruby on Rails Developer is responsible for supporting the current development workflow. The developer’s primary focus will be development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central network of microservices, connecting with Nuro’s satellite products, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. The developer will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by Nuro co-workers into the application. The developer must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Compensation is commensurate based on experience. The developer reports to the CTO.


The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code
  • Integration of data storage solutions Redis, Postgres
  • Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
  • Help maintain code quality, organization and automatization
  • Fully available online during the day

Minimum Professional Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from an accredited college or university; or equivalent education/experience in the computer science field
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Comfort with automated testing libraries (we use RSpec and Capybara)
  • Facility with Postgres and Redis
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming and SOLID principles
  • Proficiency with MVC and REST designs
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and SCRUM
  • Strong Git skills

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Exposure to HAML or React
  • Production experience with Service Oriented Architecture and Amazon Web Services
  • Facility with continuous integration platforms
  • Previous experience with Python, Go, Elixir, C#
